Tufia "Beyond the Beaches of Gran Canaria"
October 29, 1999

[image]Tufia was declared a protected site in 1973 and fenced to keep out locals who had been taking stones from the site to build houses. Some people still manage to sneak in to steal stones.

The bottom of this sign reads: The Spanish law punishes deliberate damage made to the historical heritage, with penalties between six months and six years of prison.
