During a special ceremony at Iraklion’s Basilica of Saint Mark, Mr. Velivasakis (right), President of the Pancretan Association of America, awarded Karlos Papoulias (left), Greece’s President of Democracy, with the Venizelion Award. Papoulias seemed especially touched with the honor, as his grandfather, Napoleon, had been captured in the Battle of Voukolies, for the liberation of Crete, in 1897 and was almost killed.
