Lott House Q&A |
"Brooklyn's Eighteenth-Century Lott House" 1999-2001 |
Where did you decide to make your all-important first incision?
Chris Ricciardi: From pictures, we knew of the existence of the stone kitchen and its rough location and decided that area would be the best place to start. It held the most promise, considering our short six-week field season. We were eager to uncover this feature and to determine whether enslaved Africans had been housed there; questions about slavery were among the topics we'd made highest priority in our research.
Discussion Question:
Where would you have dug first? Why?
