Seventeen lentil plants sprouted from 4,000-year-old lentils unearthed in western Turkey are ready to be transplanted outside. “Our plants are living in a sterile environment, but we don’t know what will happen when they’re planted in the field,†said Nuket Bingol of Dumlupinar University.
A team led by French archaeologists has returned to work in the ancient city of Arbil in Kurdish northern Iraq. Arbil has been inhabited for more than 8,000 years.Â
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has ordered the Utah Transit Authority to stop work on an area of a project that has dumped fill dirt on a 3,000-year-old site known as Galena Village. “The contractor deposited soil on adjacent land that he thought was UTA land,†said UTA spokesman Gerry Carpenter.Â
A Utah man charged with illegally trafficking in archaeological artifacts in the recent federal sting has been arrested in Colorado on unrelated drug charges. Â
A letter written by John Quincy Adams was discovered among some old records in the Quincy, Massachusetts, city hall. The letter outlines the burial wishes of his parents, John and Abigail Adams.
