Al-Ahram Weekly has more information on the sandstone statue of the goddess Hathor that mysteriously disappeared from its temple at Serabit Al-Khadim, an ancient Egyptian turquoise and copper mine. The sculpture was later found in a nearby cave.

The remains of an additional 51 Japanese soldiers have been recovered from mass graves on Iwoto Island, where they had been buried after the Battle of Iwo Jima. More than 8,000 bodies have been excavated so far.

A 400-year-old village of 10 longhouses has been uncovered in Ontario, on the banks of Strasburg Creek. Some artifacts from the site are even older, dating back 4,500 and 9,000 years. “The descendants of the people from that site are now among the Six Nations today,” said contract archaeologist Paul Racher.

In this video, archaeologist Gladdys Paz talks about her discovery of an intact Huari tomb at the temple of Huaca Pucllana, in Lima, Peru. The tomb contained the 1,600-year-old mummies of a woman and three children.
