A luxury shoe company has offered 25 million euros to restore the Colosseum in Rome. The problem: the Italian government requires corporate sponsors to organize the work as well.

Stephen H. Savage of Arizona State University has located copper ore and smelting slag at Jordan’s Khirbat en-Nahas using a hyperspectral instrument called Hyperion aboard a NASA satellite.  

A group called Lyravlos will attempt to reconstruct ancient Greek musical instruments and play them.  

Roman and Byzantine burials and artifacts have been unearthed in Syria, at the village site of al-Gharia.
