Here’s more information on the Wari city discovered at Peru’s Cerro Patapo archaeological site. Scientists are calling the city the “missing link” between the Wari and the Moche.

Three ram statues bearing a complete royal dedication in Meriotic script were uncovered in the Sudan. “It is one of the last antique languages that we still don’t understand,” said archaeologist Vincent Rondot.   

Italian archaeologists report on their excavations in central Syria.   

News of the financial troubles at the University of Pennsylvania Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and the resulting lay offs of 18 researchers has reached the mainstream press. C. Brian Rose, president of the Archaeological Institute of America and a curator at the museum, told the Philadelphia Inquirer, “It’s happening at virtually every learned society and educational institution.” Archaeologists from around the world are “stunned” by the cuts at the museum.   

Three marble heads were unearthed at the site of Stibera in Macedonia, where 31 statues have been found in all.  

This computer-generated head may or may not look like Cleopatra.
