Photograph of the Scythian chieftain's burial chamber shows: (1) a hearth with two bronze cauldrons containing animal bones, (2) pottery and wine amphorae, (3) fine black-glazed pottery, (4) an elaborate headdress with 34 gold medallions, (5) the chieftain's body lying on the remains of wood planking, (6) bones of sheep from meat placed in the tomb, and (7) a second deposit of pottery and wine amphorae.
