The written record is important as it gives clues for the archaeologist to know where and when.

I agree that written history can be an altered document and therefore not accurate; but it is valuable.

I also agree that archaeology is important as it gives the truth and proof of the written record and reveals information that may have been otherwise overlooked.

I would hope that historians would learn from field work and that it would give more debth to their work and that archaeologists would appreciate the work of the historian as it gives them direction.
